Fluency Fact Fanatics Resources
Dear Families,
Students in our school are participating in Beverly Math Fact Fluency Fanatics Challenge this year. In preparation for monthly Fact Challenges we suggest that each student practice math facts daily until they develop rapid, effortless, and errorless recall. On the right hand side of this webpage are links you can use to help your child. Additional resources like flash cards and math manipulatives were sent home for families without internet access. Each month, students will take a one minute basic math facts quiz, appropriate in skill and number of facts for their math level. This quiz is not for a recorded grade. Our current goal is for each class to have 80% or more of the students make an 80% or better on the quiz. Classes that meet our goal are recognized on the Beverly Bears Math Facts Challenge hall display. Individual students who meet their goals will receive an additional treat. Every student who meets their goal has their name put into a hat for a marking period drawing. In other words, every student has the chance to learn math and have fun. As students complete each challenge successfully, they will move on to a new challenge. Every student’s goal is unique or based upon their grade level. Refer to the personalized letter that was sent home at the beginning of January or reach out to your child’s math teacher. Our ultimate goal is for each Beverly Bear to become fluent in recalling his/her math facts. Many students will need daily practice in order to achieve this goal. Home-based practice makes a big difference. In other words, we need your help! If you would like to share your family having fun practicing your child’s fact fluency, please send a picture to this e-mail address: [email protected] These photos will be featured in the Beverly Bee. Thank you for your support! Together we can help your Beverly Bear achieve the goal of fact fluency which will make a positive impact on your child’s math achievement. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s math teacher. Kerri Lawler Director of Curriculum |
